How to Add Bullet Points in Google Docs
Short Answer
How do you add bullet points in Google Docs?
Press Ctrl + Shift + 8 (⌘ + Shift + 8 on Mac), or click Bulleted list in the toolbar. Press Tab to start a list inside the list, and Enter twice to go back to the main list. With the ShortieCuts extension, you can also press Alt (Option on Mac), then H U.
In ShortieCuts' key-tip menu: Home › Bullets. On a Mac, press Option instead of Alt.
Google's Built-in Shortcut
| Command | Windows | Mac |
|---|---|---|
| Bulleted list | Ctrl+Shift+8 | ⌘+Shift+8 |
These are Google's own shortcuts and work without any extension. To see Google's full list, press Ctrl + / (⌘ + / on Mac) in Google Docs.
Using the Menus
- Click where you want the list.
- In the toolbar, click Bulleted list. If you can't see it, click More first.
- To change the bullet style, click Format › Bullets & numbering.
The Word-Style ALT Shortcut
- Add the ShortieCuts extension to Chrome and open any Google Docs document.
- Click where you want the list, or select existing lines.
- Press Alt (or Option on Mac). Word-style key-tips appear.
- Press H, then U. ShortieCuts runs “Bullets”.
When the ALT route helps: Alt, H, U is the Bullets key-tip on Word's Home tab, and ShortieCuts runs Google's bulleted list with it.
