Alt + A + W + G in Google Sheets (Goal Seek)

In Excel: Data tab, Data Tools. In ShortieCuts' key-tip menu: "Goal Seek".

What Alt + A + W + G Does in Excel

Finds the input value that makes a formula return the result you want, for example the price that gets a model to a target IRR.

How to Use Alt + A + W + G in Google Sheets

  1. Add the ShortieCuts extension to Chrome and open any Google Sheet.
  2. Select the cells you want to work on (if the command needs a selection).
  3. Press Alt (or Option on Mac). Excel-style key-tips appear over the sheet.
  4. Press A, W, then G. ShortieCuts runs Goal Seek, just like Excel.

Google Sheets has no built-in Goal Seek. ShortieCuts adds one with the same three boxes as Excel: Set Cell, To Value and By Changing Cell.

Without an extension: Google Sheets doesn't support Excel's Alt key-tips, so Alt + A + W + G won't run Goal Seek on its own.
