FAQ

Is there a keyboard shortcut to change text to uppercase, lowercase or title case in Google Docs?

Not exactly. Google's keyboard shortcut list for Google Docs has no shortcut to change text to uppercase, lowercase or title case. It does list Small caps (Ctrl + Shift + K on Windows, Option + Shift + K on Mac). Select the text, click Format › Text › Capitalization, and choose lowercase, UPPERCASE or Title Case. Small caps is in the same list, with its own shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + K (Option + Shift + K on Mac). With the ShortieCuts extension, you can also press Alt (Option on Mac), then H, then 7, then U.

Does Alt + H + 7 + U work in Google Docs?

Not on its own. Google Docs has no ribbon key-tips, so typing Alt + H + 7 + U there won't change text to uppercase, lowercase or title case. With the ShortieCuts Chrome extension installed, press Alt (Option on Mac), then H, then 7, then U, and ShortieCuts runs its "UPPERCASE" command.

How do I change text to uppercase, lowercase or title case in Google Docs on a Mac?

The steps above work the same way on a Mac. With ShortieCuts, press Option instead of Alt, then H, then 7, then U.

Is ShortieCuts free?

ShortieCuts has a free 14-day trial with no credit card needed. After the trial, Pro is $7.99 a month or $69.99 a year.
