How to Duplicate a Slide in Google Slides

Short Answer

How do you duplicate a slide in Google Slides?

Select the slide in the panel on the left and press Ctrl + D (⌘ + D on Mac). Or right-click the slide and choose Duplicate slide. With the ShortieCuts extension, you can also press Alt (Option on Mac), then D D.

In ShortieCuts' key-tip menu: Slide › Duplicate Slide. On a Mac, press Option instead of Alt.

Google's Built-in Shortcut

CommandWindowsMac
Duplicate slide Ctrl+D ⌘+D

These are Google's own shortcuts and work without any extension. To see Google's full list, press Ctrl + / (⌘ + / on Mac) in Google Slides.

Using the Menus

  1. At the left, click the slide you want to duplicate. To copy several, hold Shift and click them.
  2. Right-click and select Duplicate slide.

The PowerPoint-Style ALT Shortcut

  1. Add the ShortieCuts extension to Chrome and open any Google Slides presentation.
  2. In the panel on the left, click the slide you want to copy.
  3. Press Alt (or Option on Mac). PowerPoint-style key-tips appear.
  4. Press D, then D. ShortieCuts runs “Duplicate Slide”.

When the ALT route helps: Google's Ctrl + D is already quick. The ALT route helps if you'd rather learn one pattern: in ShortieCuts, Alt, D holds the slide commands (D duplicates, X deletes, S skips).
