How to Skip (Hide) a Slide in Google Slides
Short Answer
How do you skip a slide in Google Slides?
Right-click the slide in the panel on the left and click Skip slide. It stays in the file but is left out when you present; click the same option again to bring it back. With the ShortieCuts extension, you can also press Alt (Option on Mac), then S H.
In ShortieCuts' key-tip menu: Slide Show › Hide/Skip Slide. On a Mac, press Option instead of Alt.
Using the Menus
- At the left, right-click the slide or slides you want to skip.
- Click Skip slide.
- To show the slide again, right-click it and click the same option again (it now reads Unskip slide).
Skipped slides aren't deleted, and people you share the presentation with can still see them.
Google's keyboard shortcut list for Google Slides has no shortcut for this.
The PowerPoint-Style ALT Shortcut
- Add the ShortieCuts extension to Chrome and open any Google Slides presentation.
- In the panel on the left, click the slide you want to skip.
- Press Alt (or Option on Mac). PowerPoint-style key-tips appear.
- Press S, then H. ShortieCuts runs “Hide/Skip Slide”.

FAQ
Is there a keyboard shortcut to skip a slide in Google Slides?
Google's keyboard shortcut list for Google Slides doesn't include one. Right-click the slide in the panel on the left and click Skip slide. It stays in the file but is left out when you present; click the same option again to bring it back. With the ShortieCuts extension, you can also press Alt (Option on Mac), then S, then H.
Does Alt + S + H work in Google Slides?
Not on its own. Google Slides has no ribbon key-tips, so typing Alt + S + H there won't skip a slide. With the ShortieCuts Chrome extension installed, press Alt (Option on Mac), then S, then H, and ShortieCuts runs its "Hide/Skip Slide" command.
How do I skip a slide in Google Slides on a Mac?
The steps above work the same way on a Mac. With ShortieCuts, press Option instead of Alt, then S, then H.
Can people still see a skipped slide in Google Slides?
Yes. Skipping only leaves the slide out of the slideshow. It isn't deleted, and anyone you share the presentation with can still see it.
Is ShortieCuts free?
ShortieCuts has a free 14-day trial with no credit card needed. After the trial, Pro is $7.99 a month or $69.99 a year.
